Research team

Simon Menet is a Research Fellow at the Fondation pour la recherche stratégique (FRS) and a PhD candidate in Political Science at Inalco. His research focuses on China’s foreign and security policy, great power competition in Southeast Asia, as well as environmental crime. He has advised senior officials at the Ministry of Armed Forces, the General Secretariat for Defense and National Security (SGDSN), and the French Development Agency (AFD).

Before joining FRS, Simon worked at the DC-based think tank, Center for Advanced Defense Studies (C4ADS), as well as at the French Defense Attaché Office in Thailand and at the Embassy of France in China. He holds an MSc in China Studies from King’s College London and an MSc in International Security and Defense from Lyon 3 University. He also studied at the University of Texas at Austin and attended a Chinese language program at National Taiwan University.
